Two of Wands upright
Someone stands on a rooftop holding a globe, looking out past the horizon at everything that hasn't happened yet. The first move already worked — now comes the bigger decision about where to actually take it. This is planning with real ambition behind it: not just what's next, but how far you're willing to let this go. The whole world is genuinely an option right now. The work is narrowing it to the one that's actually yours.
You're at the point where the decision has been made in principle but not yet in practice. This card is about scope. Deciding how big a version of this you're actually willing to attempt. The safe option and the ambitious one are both genuinely available right now, which is a rarer position than it feels. Pick the bigger one while you still have the appetite for it.
Two of Wands reversed
The globe has been put back down. Big plans shrinking to safe ones out of hesitation. It can mean a fear of committing to a direction, staying comfortable on the rooftop instead of stepping toward the horizon. Or it's poor planning: ambition without the groundwork to actually support it. Pick a direction this week. Almost any direction beats the rooftop.
The plan has quietly shrunk, and you probably didn't notice the moment it happened. This is what caution looks like when it's been running unsupervised for a while. Every version of the plan a little smaller than the last. It can also mean genuine over-planning: the map redrawn so many times that the trip never starts. The information you're waiting for is probably only available once you move.
How this card is read
The passages above show this card on its own. In a reading, its meaning is composed again around its position and neighboring cards, so the same symbol can speak differently each time.
