Three of Wands upright

Three staves on a cliff's edge, and ships already out on the water. The plans are in motion and out of your hands. This is a season of waiting that isn't passive: you did the setup, and now it's about patience and watching for what comes back. Expansion is underway, probably in a direction bigger than your first estimate. Keep your eyes on the horizon. The results are closer than the waiting makes them feel.

The work is done and it's now out of your hands, which is its own particular kind of uncomfortable. This is the waiting period after real effort, not the waiting that comes from avoidance. A meaningful difference. Whatever you sent out is doing its work somewhere you can't observe it, and checking on it more often won't speed it up. Use this stretch to prepare for it landing rather than to worry about whether it will.

Three of Wands reversed

The ship hasn't come in, and the waiting has started to wear on you. It can mean delays that have nothing to do with your effort, or plans that expanded faster than the foundation could hold. Sometimes it's a lack of foresight: moving forward without having actually looked at the horizon first. They're still out there. This is a longer version of the wait than you were expecting, not a cancelled one.

The waiting has gone on long enough that you've started to doubt the whole thing was worth doing. Delays here usually mean the timeline was optimistic, not that the plan was wrong. It can also point to expansion attempted before the foundations were ready. Reach outrunning capacity. Give it more time before you conclude anything, but stop refreshing.
