The Hermit upright
The Hermit climbed the mountain alone on purpose, lantern in hand, looking for something that only shows up in quiet. This is a good season to step back from the noise — not to disappear, just to hear yourself think without a dozen other voices competing for the answer. The light you're following is small but it's enough; you don't need to see the whole path, just the next few steps of it. You're more likely to find what you're after alone than in a crowd right now.
The Hermit isn't withdrawal for its own sake. It's stepping back on purpose because the answer you need won't be found in a crowd. This is a legitimate season for fewer plans and more reflection, even if it looks unproductive from the outside. Whatever you find in this quiet eventually becomes something worth sharing, but that comes later. Right now it's just yours. Don't mistake other people's noise for information you actually need.
The Hermit reversed
Solitude has curdled into isolation. Withdrawn to avoid rather than to reflect, with the lantern left unlit. It can mean pulling away from people who could actually help, mistaking distance for wisdom. Or it's the opposite problem: so much noise and company that the quiet the moment actually needs never gets a chance to happen. You can tell which of the two this is by how you feel about being interrupted.
Too much time alone. Solitude that tipped into loneliness without you quite noticing when. It can also point to advice or wisdom being ignored, from yourself or from someone who's actually tried to help. Isolation stops being useful right around the point it starts feeling like avoidance. One honest conversation might do more right now than another week of thinking it over alone.
