Four of Cups upright

Someone sits under a tree with their arms crossed, ignoring a cup being offered because they're too busy staring at the three already in front of them. Something worth paying attention to might be getting overlooked because you're stuck contemplating what's not working. This is a season of quiet discontent more than crisis — restlessness without a clear direction yet. Worth looking up. An opportunity may be right there, just outside the sulk.

You've stopped being able to see what's actually on offer, and that's a state rather than a fact about your options. Dissatisfaction here isn't a sign that things are bad; it's a sign that you've gone numb to them. Something genuinely good is being overlooked because it doesn't match what you were waiting for. Look up. The offer is still there.

Four of Cups reversed

The arms are finally uncrossing. Apathy lifting, a new offer actually noticed and considered. It can mean coming out of a withdrawn period, ready to re-engage with things you'd checked out of. Or the discontent gets worse: boredom curdling into real dissatisfaction that's harder to shake off. Something is shifting out of the stuck, unmoved place this card usually describes.

Interest is coming back, and it might arrive before you feel ready for it. Apathy lifting tends to be gradual and unglamorous. Noticing one thing, then another. This can also mean withdrawing on purpose, which is different from being stuck. Say yes to the next reasonable thing you're offered.
