Seven of Cups upright
A wall of cups floating in cloud, each holding a different vision. A castle, a jewel, a dragon, a shrouded figure. None of them quite solid. You have more options in front of you than usual right now, and not all of them are as real as they look. This is a moment for imagination, but also for a little discernment about which of these visions could actually hold weight if you reached for it. Daydream freely, then pick one and test whether it's actually solid before committing further.
There are too many options, and several of them aren't as real as they look. The paralysis here comes from possibility rather than scarcity, which makes it harder to spot as a problem. At least one of these choices is genuinely solid; the difficulty is that it's sitting next to several that are fantasy. Eliminate before you choose. Cut the two least real ones today.
Seven of Cups reversed
The fog is clearing. Illusions drop away and what's left is a much smaller, much more real set of choices. It can mean clarity after a period of being scattered across too many possibilities at once. Or it's the opposite: choosing, finally, and then immediately doubting the choice. This is less about dreaming now and more about acting on the one dream that held up to scrutiny.
The options have narrowed, and that's a relief rather than a loss. Clarity here usually arrives by subtraction. Things falling away until what's left is actually workable. It can also mean a fantasy finally recognised as one, which stings briefly and helps enormously. Fewer real choices beats many imaginary ones.
How this card is read
The passages above show this card on its own. In a reading, its meaning is composed again around its position and neighboring cards, so the same symbol can speak differently each time.
