The Sun upright
The Sun doesn't hedge. A child rides bareheaded under a sky with nothing to hide behind, and that's the whole message. Something genuinely good is available to you right now: clarity, success, a plain and uncomplicated kind of joy that doesn't need explaining. This is a good time to let yourself feel proud of something instead of immediately looking for the catch. The light is with you more than it usually is.
The Sun is the card that shows up when something finally stops being complicated and just works. This tends to mean good news, real warmth, or a success that doesn't come with a hidden catch. Let yourself actually enjoy this instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Some things really are just going well. Whatever you've been working toward, this card is on your side.
The Sun reversed
The Sun is behind a cloud that will pass but hasn't yet. A success taking longer than expected, or joy that's harder to reach than it ought to be. It can mean overdoing the optimism, insisting things are fine faster than they actually are. Or it's simpler: a low mood passing through, not permanent, just present. It hasn't stopped shining. Something is temporarily in the way of feeling its warmth.
The good thing is real but delayed, or harder to feel than it should be given the circumstances. This can look like success that doesn't feel as satisfying as expected, or joy that's being rationed for no clear reason. It's worth checking whether you're actually letting yourself have the good moment, or performing having it instead. The clouds here are thin. It won't take much to clear them.
How this card is read
The passages above show this card on its own. In a reading, its meaning is composed again around its position and neighboring cards, so the same symbol can speak differently each time.
